Dean's Birthday

the six week birthday binge [all four of ours] ended with a party for dean last weekend.  he loves animals and the theme was inspired by this set we gave him for his birthday and put together with several farm friendly things we already owned...

had: wooden stacking tree / sheepskin / feed number 2 platewhite pitcher filled with
bells of ireland / black and white lantern + bark pedestal cake stand

bought:
wood patterned photography backdrop paper from the craft store [love it!]
its huge, cheap and thick and i plan to reuse it as wrapping paper /
gray and white gingham wrapping paper from target which makes a great table runner /
three mason jar style drink dispensers + some yellow swirly pop favors and balloons.

made:
chalkboard banner i had made and used for cole's birthday similar to this one
i saw on pinterest via delia creates [hers is beautifully sewn] i used chalkboard paper from the
craft store / a little flag cake topper from one of these smash brand
sticky notes sets from target /
a
can knockdown game like this one with foam baseballs inspired by tori johnson PR's county fair party +
a ring toss game
from plastic bottles and a set of 12 small ring toss rings

inspired by one charming party by photographer nicole hill gerulat

here's how it turned out...

black & white pillows from my shop
i wrapped the wood grain paper around our mirror and attached this sheep, a vintage find
from years ago that came out of an old store window and you may recognize from both
of the boys nursery's.  i made the birthday banner with chalkboard paper and opted for
silver sharpie so the letters would be clear.
and a HUGE shout out to my talented sister rachel!!!
who recreated this cake i saw online for dean who is a blueberry addict
the mini flag topper i made + two mini tall white taper candles.
i'm obsessed with using them, they look beautiful on every cake.
the biggest hit with the kids was the lemonade bar.  they had fun mixing the flavors
[pink, traditional, and raspberry] together to make their own flavor.

and my little "later gator" cape-wearing birthday boy with grandma
plus some of his cousins, friends and party animal brother...

the weather was absolutely perfect that day so the kids spent a lot of time outside
running, tree climbing, and hunting for big foot with their flashlights in the
pine trees after dark.

happy second birthday dean - we love you!
