when we asked cole what he wanted for his fourth birthday this year we got three answers... a rainbow cake, a robot, and cough drops. my sister had made him the same cake for his second birthday and it left a lasting impression. the cough drop answer we realized came from my husband being sick a few months ago, cole asked for one and we said he could have one when he was older - apparently four is older. so the robots + rainbows theme was born, here's some of the inspiration that helped me tie it all together...

letter R from land of nod / silver star pinata and number four balloon from the party store / robot bank, rainbow candles, thank you cards and white geometric bowls from target / slate placemats from william-sonoma home we already had as the table runner, and the idea to write coles name and draw robot faces on the balloons came from this pinterest image, and the chalkboard banner idea [i made ours with chalkboard paper] by delia creates - great blog that you can check out here] |
i wanted robots to be the main part with touches here and there of the rainbow,
but i ended up having a hard time finding any pre-made robot party items.
so i decided to mix in lots of silver, black + white, and geometric shapes too.
and here's how it turned out...
his cousin sophia is equally as fiesty and funny as he is [people often mistake them for twins]
today is his actual birthday and he's already made this same face at least once or twice this morning.
