Head to Toe

after receiving a compliment on this clutch, i looked down and realized my entire outfit [except my jewelry] was from you guessed it... target.  composed of three of my new favorite go-to pieces and a few oldies, but goodies...

target style #107 cap sleeve flowy french graphic tee
#108 the most comfortable pair of skinny jeans i've bought in a long time
and #109 snakeskin tassel clutch [which also perfectly fits an ipad

and another example of a great online only find]

some of these pieces are no longer available, but here are their updated versions:
ear aviator sunglasses, ultra soft black cocoon cardigan, and my favorite kaelyn booties

Falling for Fuchsia

and pale shades of pink these days.  i think it's these crazy little cavemen + all the testosterone surrounding me causing it.  i've been working fuchsia into my home and i just painted a client's bedroom the palest shade of pink and it turned out so beautiful.  pictures to come on both of those projects later, but here's some of what's inspiring me right now...

SOURCES: [many of these are from pinterest with no link to the original] 1. pink dye/dust, 2. fuchsia striped chaise lounges via designer maryam montague, 3. stone cottage with fuchsia rhododendron, 4. pink teaklight candles on white moroccan poufs and outdoor dinner party, 5. painting "pink and orange dance" by kristy gamhill see more of her beautiful work here, 6. aztec inspired + sheepskin dining room, 7. presents stacked on car - this one's been in my file for years via absolutely beautiful things, 8. cafe table, 9. i love peonies - my mom always had them growing up, 10. mid century pale pink swan chair via sf girl by the bay featured in elle decor, 11. romero outdoor and pink grainsack pillows from pottery barn and phoenix wool dhurrie rug from west elm, and 12. pale pink ocean photograph

American Brothers

cole has been obsessed with dressing like his dad lately.  it's really sweet, from the hat to the shoes - he wants it all.  i can perfectly remember my youngest brother at his age wearing khaki pants and a button down standing in front of the mirror repeatedly trying to perfect my dad's classic side part.  ironically enough, cole inherited his uncles hair with calics in the front that do what they want.  his obsession has sent us on a few scouting missions to find similar kid versions, but we're not complaining - we're both enjoying his super dad-loving a lot.  here's two of our current favorites...
their new store in new orleans - check out their site for hats of all styles
the lil' billy bob in olive, dark gray and brown - you can also find them here.
the nylon pack cloth gym bag - also a perfect day trip bag for kids.
it's super durable and only $18 and comes in 24 colors!
we just bought our second and i'm sure we'll be back for more.
modeling his new hat in dark navy and one of his favorite
vintage tees.  it's from his cousin [who he adores] and even
though it's been washed a hundred times, when he puts it on
he smiles really big and lovingly says... "it smells like ethan"

i love these cool and comfortable jersey style tees i picked up for cole and i.  he's had his since the fall and i purchased mine recently.  this is seriously one of the softest shirts i've ever owned and his "tiger tee" continues to be one of his morning requests...

target style #104 --- harajuku mini tiger tee

target style #105 --- jersey graphic tee in gray

i found this awhile ago and i'm dying to try it.
my sister and i have brinded a turkey, but this seems much easier.

i have also really been into raglans lately and they're another piece
that are equally cool + comfy for my kids [and even my husband]
but don't be expecting any matching family pictures soon ;)

Master Moodboard

our master bedroom has been on my list of projects for some time now.  it started to fall apart the day we brought dean home from the hospital [who is now 18 months].  we wanted to bring it back to the relaxing refuge it once was because we need it now more than ever after we get the rowdy ones to bed.  it's been a slow work in progress since the fall, but it's finally coming together.  so far... we've changed the layout, painted it navy, replaced a couple rugs + brought in some pieces from other rooms.  doing this has of course created a domino affect throughout the house, which can make things feel a little disheveled, but it's always when i feel the most inspired...

[navy + nautical meets bohemian with a navy, white, linen, gray, aqua + gold color scheme]

SOURCES: dark denim paint by behr, aiden 3 shelf console from world market, vintage brass hook and candlesticks,
striped sheet set + euro sham in feather gray by west elm, luxury knit matelasse blanket by target, glass lamps with linen shades,
sullivan upholstered platform bed by restoration hardware, hemnes 8 drawer dresser in whiteodby white frame by ikea,
large woven baskets, beni ourain rug by pottery barn, vintage aqua pedestal table, large white ornate mirror, and a brindle cowhide.

...another project i hope to be posting more on soon

Lofty Ideas

lately my mind has been filled with a few big projects in the works.  the first one up is a design job for a client/friend's new downtown place.  i made my first visit the other day and fell in love as soon as i pulled up and especially after i walked through these big double doors.  it is the perfect combination of bright + open with tons of character and barn-like details.  i cannot wait to get started.  here's a little sneak peek...

i've been into wearing [and especially layering] jewelry more than ever lately.  what i love most about this trend is no matter the type of jewelry person you are, anyone can rock it.  i shed a lot of my big jewelry when my boys came along because of the yanking, but i'm getting back into wearing them again.  here's a couple ways i've been combining pieces i already own to give them new life, and some other looks out there that are inspiring me to go bolder...

arrow pendant + karma gold dipped necklace
these bracelets feel new again when stacked all together

and the "grand" mother of layering jewelry...

proof you can be stylish at any age and that this trend does not discriminate

Target Style

it's no secret... i love target.  i get asked by friends and stopped by strangers all the time about items in my home or pieces one of us is wearing.   i'm surprised that many of them are still so shocked when i answer with a big smile "target!"  so i've decided to start an ongoing series "target style" to feature my finds and how we incorporate them into our home and wardrobes.  i've found probably at least a hundred great items over the years, so here's the first...

from my etsy shop and this frayed paisley scarf from forever 21.
[i've been obsessed with scarves lately and using them everywhere
around my home lately as runners and pillow covers]

and while i was snapping these shots cole was stomping around
in a couple more of our target favorites we've been living in...

i loved these so much that i picked up another pair in gray
these camo pants are cut perfectly [not too tight or baggy] and have
become one of his favorites and he would definitely tell me otherwise.
he has become very opinionated on what he now wears everyday.
he has given me his stamp of approval on my high tops as well.
